PDAs INDIVIDUAL GIVING INITIATIVE By: Caroline James- Fundraising Campaign Manager, PDA

Welcome to 2021. Remember that, PDA launched its Individual Giving Initiative (IGI) strategy in May of 2020. The idea of the fundraising strategy was to achieve its purpose of raising funds from people through regular direct debit donation which the organisation uses to create programs that is beneficial to the men, women, youths, persons with disabilities and children that it works with in the 4 LGAs and 13 communities in Ebonyi state. This way, funders are actively involved in improving and impacting the lives and livelihood of these people thereby assisting the NGO in reaching some of its major goals and objectives.

Also recall that, 2020 was an incredibly tough, challenging year for CSOs, organisations, businesses and the world at large. Although, PDA was not excluded, yet thankfully, it was an achieving year for us too. The IGI which key started during this difficult time with the Covid-19 pandemic, has gone better than we envisioned it to at the pilot stage. The commitment of our individual donors to this strategy has been incredible, and it simply shows us how devoted people can be in helping others. It has also proven to the team that beyond the popular believe/notion that Nigerians do not donate, PDA is proud to say that the commitment has been unbelievable. To this we continue to say thank you.

Money and support are still the backbone of any CSO/organisation, and PDA still has a long way to go in its fundraising initiative, we are still far from meeting the target we have set, but we are encouraged by our current achievement and we believe this will serve as bedrock for many more accomplishments to come. Our dream is still in process of increasing the number of our individual donors’ overtime; maintaining these donors; increase their giving amount as much as possible; and implementing projects that will touch and change lives of the these communities. Therefore, our campaign and appeal to everyone from every part of this country and beyond is to become part of the PDA family like our donors are now, and to contribute financially and give advice as we report activities and projects that we execute with the monies we will receive so that collectively we can make a huge difference in this new year.

PDA promises to keep its vision alive to continue to do more activities and projects even with the pandemic somewhat crippling the finances of people, this is why, the commitment we get is very important to us and the people we serve. You can find all that PDA has been doing since the pandemic on all our social media platforms and website down on this newsletter.

You will be surprised at the number of lives you can touch with only 1,000-10,000 Naira monthly especially with how much the pandemic has affected the livelihood of many people in these communities. They are counting on us for hope and survival, let us not fail them. You can just click the donate button up or down this page and put a smile on someone’s face today.
