Participatory development alternatives is a Civil Society Organization based in Ebonyi State with the mission of working with the poor and excluded to improve their standard of living and dignity through mutual respect, humility, non-violence, participation under gender equality learning, sharing, transparency and accountability. The poor and excluded enjoyed all the above-mentioned elements through PDA’s partnership with Actionaid Nigeria under the Umbrella of the local rights program since 2005.The synergy brought about development across several communities in Ebonyi State hereby improving lives adding to the records of success stories within the state
These helpful interventions were carried out in eleven communities within four local government areas in Ebonyi state. The inventions were aimed at giving power to the people especially to women and children. Over these years we have enjoyed working in these communities peacefully and we have always been received with open arms, this made the environment fertile to impart positive changes in bringing formal education closer to children within the communities, also providing conducive learning environment for learning to take place. Primary health care was prioritized by building health centers in several communities. Rice threshing machines were also provided and Cassava milling machines were not left out. Water sanitation services were also provided by drilling motorized boreholes in some communities too. The people capacity was built to engage in advocacy dialogues with stakeholders within the communities, local government and state level to ask for their basic civil right for community development.
Every journey must come to an end but I don’t completely agree all the good works ends abruptly because every good deed outlives human life .Every capacity building given to people in these communities will surely continue, We will miss working with these communities but we believe they have been empowered sufficiently to keep implementing all they were equipped with .On behalf of the board Chairman, management and staff members of PDA, I acknowledge all these successes will not have been achieved without your unflinching support all through these beautiful years. We thank and appreciate the entire staff of Actionaid Nigeria immensely for changing lives positively in Ebonyi State.
